These playing cards show in caricature a well-known person from the Victorian era in Great Britain. The characters who are lampooned and the dated style of the illustrations suggest that they were drawn in around 1880. In this case the character is the Prince of Wales befire he became Edward VII. Our Future King. Edward VII (1841 - 1910). Long may he reign, and never ride over his subjects! In this caricature there appear a set square and a compass, both Masonic symbols. King Edward VII was founding Master of Navy Lodge, No. 2612. He finally came to the throne in 1901, following the death of Queen Victoria. This game is attributed to games manufacturer Multum In Parvo ('much in a small space'). The company formed in the 1890s at 144 Falkland Road, Hornsey, London, N8. In 1931 the company was liquidated following almost continuous financial difficulties throughout the 1920s.
