Entrance to the The Claycomb Covered Bridge, a 126 foot long Burr Truss bridge,that was built in Reynoldsdale, Pennsylvania in 1880 and moved to this location outside Old Bedford Village in 1975. The bridge structure on the left is for pedestrians and bicycles.
Early 19th Century Ironworks replaced earlier forges at the site. It was redeveloped by S. Vail, father of A.Vail, partner of S. Morse re: telegraph. Forge was where SS Savannah Ship steam engine was built.

A covered bridge is one in which the sides and top are covered to protect the road under it. The roads under these type of bridges usually last longer because they are covered from wind , rain and snow.
