On the grave of William F. Hughes (1807-1871,) a life-sized seated statue of him, gazing over the Schuylkill River, sits atop his grave. Mr. Hughs was a president of the City Bank in Philadelphia and one of its leading citizens. The bronze sculpture was by Joseph Alexis Bailey (1825-1883.)
