Fuji as is observed through Torii Gate of Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine during the cherry blossom season of April. \nThis Shrine is famous for the view of Mt. Fuji and Five-storied Pagoda called Churei-to, located high up above 398 steps, during the cherry blossom season. However, due to the pandemic of CONVID-19, the steps going up to the Pagoda was closed to visitors and, therefore, I had to be content with photo-taking without the Pagoda.\nArakura Fuji Sengen Shrine was erected in 705, and is one of about 1,300 Sengen shrines which were erected in honor of the deity of Mt Fuji. This place is very popular among tourists from both Japan and overseas for its wonderful view, combining typical Japanese symbols of Mt Fuji, Pagoda and cherry blossom.

Mt.Azumakofuji is an active stratovolcano in the Bandai Azuma region of Fukushima prefecture. Volcanic eruptions in past has resulted in its conical shaped crater. The last known eruption  was as recent as in 1977. Its near perfect resemblance to Mt Fuji earned it the name Azuma Ko-Fuji. The fumarolic area at the base on slopes of the neighbouring Mt Issaikyo gives the entire area a sulphuric odour.

Reference to the Hongu Taisha was first documented in the 9th century, which the establishment of the shrine must have preceded substantially. Due to floods in 1889, the shrine was moved from its original location at Oyu no Hara to its present site one kilometer away. In front of Oyu no Hara stands the biggest torii gate in the world, which, at 33 meters tall, dwarfs visitors passing under it
