Post-War Credits were issued during World War Two in recognition of the higher taxes which the British people were paying during the war to support the War Effort. This additional tax, plus interest at 38%, was repaid between the end of the war and 1973. As this certificate has not been marked as ‘cancelled’ it is likely that it was never redeemed.
