The Fred F. French Building (551 Fifth Avenue) is one of the less-well-known Art Deco skyscrapers in New York City. And that’s a shame, because it’s one of the better designs of that era. One of the most remarkable features of the building is its magnificent lobby. The lobby is lavishly decorated with marble finishes, ornate metalwork, and elaborate murals that depict scenes from French history and culture. This attention to detail and luxurious design elements reflect the opulence and craftsmanship of the Art Deco era.\n\nUnlike many NYC buildings after 9/11, the Fred French Building lobby is open to visitors and photography is permitted.
