$Now a bivouac and military exercise area, the Bois du Loup site and its castle alone reflect the eventful history of the military camp on the Coëtquidan moors.\n- Located in the commune of Augan, the castle of Bois du Loup (2nd of the name) was built from 1871 to 1874 by the owner of the place: Count Roland des Clos de la Fonchais (Birth: 06/10/1821 - Marriage: 27/05/1860 - Death: 20/05/1898).\n- His father : Adolphe des Clos de la Fonchais, captain in the 21st regiment of the line, whose family, originally from Bavaria, had settled in Brittany in the 16th century, had bought the estate of Bois du Loup in 1805.\n- (Work began exactly two years before the military camp was set up).\nThe castle was destroyed by the Americans during their stay at the Coëtquidan camp from January to June 1945.\nThe massive machine-gunning of the façade and the deliberate bombing of the south-east tower (which later collapsed and whose granite stones were used to reinforce the dyke of the Prée-neuve pond), were the subject of a film. This anti-Nazi propaganda film was shown in the schools of Ploërmel and beyond to raise awareness about the alleged German exactions in the region in general and on the local heritage in particular, during the occupation of the camp.$

$Ballysaggartmore Towers is a historic site located in County Waterford, Ireland. The site is home to a set of stunning ruined towers that were built in the mid-19th century by a wealthy landowner named Arthur Kiely-Ussher.\n\nThe towers were designed as an elaborate entrance to the Kiely-Ussher estate and were intended to impress visitors with their grandeur and opulence. The towers are built in a Gothic Revival style and feature ornate carvings, intricate stonework, and a variety of other decorative elements.\n\nDespite their impressive appearance, the towers were never fully completed, and by the end of the 19th century, they had fallen into disrepair. Today, they are a popular tourist attraction and are considered an important part of Ireland's architectural heritage.\n\nVisitors to Ballysaggartmore Towers can explore the ruins and learn about the history of the site through interpretive displays and guided tours. The site is also a popular spot for hiking and nature walks, with several trails winding through the surrounding woods and countryside.$

Slains Castle aka New Slains Castle near Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Bram Stoker stayed the castle when it was a private house and it is believed to be the inspiration for the setting of Count Dracula. The castle was abandoned, and its roof taken off, in 1925, since when it has fallen into ruin.
