It is also where you can find the famous Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and more. The name comes from the ancient Greek word nekropolis, which literally means “city of the dead”.\n\nThe Giza Complex was once near the ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis, and the Giza plateau is where a number of pharaohs, queens, and nobles of the Fourth Dynasty of ancient Egypt were buried. \n\nAll three of Giza's pyramids and their elaborate burial complexes were built  from roughly 2550 to 2490 B.C. The pyramids were built by Pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure.

Pyramids of Giza, Egypt - July 26, 2022: All three of Giza's pyramids and their elaborate burial complexes were built  from roughly 2550 to 2490 B.C. The pyramids were built by Pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. In 1979 the Pyramids of Giza became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Furthermore, the pyramids are also included on the list of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
