Orvieto, Province of Terni, Umbria, Italy - 24 april 2023: Interior of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo - The Presbytery - The same Ugolino di Prete Ilario who worked on the frescoes in the Cappella del Corporale frescoed, with many assistants and starting from 1370, the Cappella Maggiore of the church (or presbytery). The frescoes depict Stories from the life of the Madonna, to whom the entire cathedral is dedicated. It is one of the largest surviving fourteenth-century cycles in Italy and dates from a few years after that of the Corporal Chapel. The frescoes of the Annunciation and the Visitation of Mary are late fifteenth-century remakes by Antonio del Massaro, known as il Pastura. In the chapel there is a large four-light window characterized by a remarkable stained glass window, the work of Giovanni di Bonino (1328-1334). In pendant with the fresco decoration, the window is dedicated to the Stories of Mary and Christ. The wooden Crucifix which is placed in the center of the chapel, behind the altar, is the work of Lorenzo Maitani, while the wooden choir is the work of various wood inlay artists headed by Giovanni Ammannati (starting from 1329).
Interior of the gothic church San Zanipolo (Basilica di Santi Giovanni e Paolo). The actual church building proges was startet in 1333 and completed in 1430. Rome, Italy - May 12, 2018: The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is located in the Castro Pretorio district, near Termini Station and was built between 1879 and 1887 at the behest of Pope Pius IX who, in 1870, laid the foundation stone of the new building. However, due to the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy, the work was interrupted; it was only thanks to San Giovanni Bosco that construction could be resumed in 1880 and completed in 1887 by the architect Francesco Vespignani. In this photo, above the side altar dedicated to the baptism of Jesus Christ, detail of the lunette depicting the Heavenly Father.

A view of the beautiful fresco inside a chapel in the Duomo of Spoleto, a medieval town in the Umbria region, central Italy. The fresco, which represents a Madonna and Child between St. John the Baptist and Saint Leonard, was painted in 1497 by Pinturicchio in a small chapel on the right side of the main nave of the cathedral on commission of the bishop Constantine Eroli. The Duomo, or Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta (Cathedral of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary), was built starting from 1067 in Romanesque and Lombard style and consecrated in 1198. Spoleto, one of the most visited medieval cities in Italy, hosts the Festival of the Two Worlds, a world-famous event that brings together hundreds of artists, musicians, classical dancers and opera singers every year. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the high quality of the olive oil produced in these lands. Lompoc, California, USA - July 30, 2016: Sanctuary and altar at the church at La Purisima Mission in Lompoc
Known in English as St Minas on the Mountain, this superb example of Romanesque architecture was built between 1013-1018. St Miniato was an Armenian prince in the Roman army under Emperor Decius, who was accused of being a Christian after living like a hermit. Brought before the emperor at the Florentine gates, he survived an encounter with a panther in the amphitheater who, legend has it, refused to devour him. He was beheaded but then carried his head over the Arno, and ascended Mons Fiorentinus to his hermitage.
