The equestrian statue of Simón Bolívar on the north bank of the Seine was given to Paris in 1930 by the Latin American countries he freed from the Spanish Empire to mark the 100th anniversary of Simón Bolívar's death.
Here is a view of the “Alma Mater” statue at Columbia University, seen from the back. The statue looks south across the quadrangle to the Butler Library. \n\nThe statue’s sculptor was Daniel Chester French (1850-1931,) who, among other famous works, designed the Lincoln statue at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. \n\nAlma Mater, a representation of the University, wears a crown of laurel leaves and an academic gown. She holds a scepter in her right hand.

The Pasteur Institute (Institut Pasteur) is a French non-profit private foundation dedicated to the study of biology, micro-organisms, diseases, and vaccines. It is named after Louis Pasteur, who made some of the greatest breakthroughs in modern medicine at the time, including pasteurization and vaccines for anthrax and rabies. The institute was founded in 1887. For over a century, the Institut Pasteur has been at the forefront of the battle against infectious disease.
