The colorful male American Robin (Turdus migratorius) in the center of the image is perched on a winter crabapple tree branch after choosing just the right crabapple berry now gripped in its beak. In early December, this tree still offers several different types of regional birds dozens of ripe red crabapples (as well as many wrinkled and over ripe selections!) as potential yummy food choices for hungry birds. December in a suburban back yard near Rochester, New York State. A different take on the concept of choice.
