Washington DC USA Dec 2, 2012: An equestrian statue of Andrew Jackson by Clark Mills (September 1, 1815 – January 12, 1883) stands in Lafayette Park, just across from the White House.\n\nThe1853 statue depicts Andrew Jackson mounted on a horse, rearing up on its hind legs. This dynamic pose is particularly notable because it was one of the first equestrian statues in the world to be cast with the horse balanced on its hind legs, supported by the tail.\n\nThe cannon in front of the statue base is one captured by Jackson from the Spanish at Pensacola, FL in 1818.

Robert Gould Shaw is seen leading members of the 54th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry 1863. Boston, Massachusetts, USA - December 8, 2023: Equestrian statue of General Joseph Hooker in front of the Massachusetts State House. The 1903 bronze sculpture was designed by Daniel Chester French and Edward Clark Potter, and rests on a granite base. Joseph Hooker was an American Civil War general for the Union, chiefly remembered for his decisive defeat by Confederate General Robert E. Lee at the Battle of Chancellorsville in 1863. The Massachusetts State House is the state capitol and seat of government for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, located in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Boston.
