The Hamada was a freighter loaded with plastic granules that ran aground and sank on June 29, 1993. Parts of the lost cargo you can still find today on the beach, in the sand is still to find the plastic granules. The wreck is located just behind the town of Abu Ghusun south of Wadi Gimal, it can easily be dived from the beach. The 65.1 meter long and almost 11.1 meter wide ship was laid on March 15, 1965 under the hull number 347 at the shipyard John Lewis & Sons in Aberdeen on behalf of P & O on Kiel and ran on 12 June 1965 as Avocet from Stack. It had a machine type MN17 of British Polar Engine Ltd., Glasgow. Until June 22, 1976, the ship was used by various P & O subsidiaries, then sold to Stavros Elias Liakos Maritime, based in Cyprus, and renamed Afroditi H. In 1982, it was sold to Leghorn Shipping Co. (Cyprus) and renamed Samarah. In 1985, the ship went to Chaldean Shipping Co. (Cyprus) and was renamed Hamada. Finally, in 1986, it was sold to Phemios Shipping Co., based in Valletta, Malta.
lue seawater is a captivating sight that many people find mesmerizing. The color of seawater is primarily influenced by the depth of the water and the amount of light that penetrates it. In shallower waters, sunlight is able to reflect off the sand or rocks on the bottom, causing the water to appear lighter in color. In deeper waters, less light is able to penetrate, causing the water to appear darker and bluer.
