$Aristolochia salvadorensis, also known as Darth Vader plant, since it looks like Darth Vader of Star Wars, is a woody climber native to El Salvador. It belongs to the Aristolochiaceae family of plants, which includes pipevines, birthworts and Dutchman’s pipe. The weird, corpse-like appearance of Darth Vader pipe vine flowers is due to adaptations that ensure its survival. The helmet-like shape and purple coloration of the blooms, combined with the powerful aroma of rotting flesh, tends to attract insect pollinators.\nOnce enticed, insects fly through the Darth Vader plant’s luminous “eyes.” The inside of the blooms is lined with sticky hairs that imprison the insects long enough to cover them with pollen. They are then released to fly out and pollinate more blooms.$

Sarracenia is a genus of passive pitcher plant carnivores. Most of the species have erect and tubular pitchers, which are modified leaves. Insects are attracted to the pitchers because they mimic flowers; brightly colored and are endowed with sugar-exuding glands called extra-floral nectar.

$Arisaema ringens, commonly called cobra lily, is a tuberous perennial that is native to Japan. Each tuber produces a single stalk containing two glossy green trifoliate leaves, with each leaf having three leaflets. From the center of the leaf stalks rises a cobra-like flower in spring. Each flower consists of a showy, green and purple striped spathe with a hood that covers the inner yellow to white flower spike known as the spadix. Stalks, leaves, flowers and fruits give this plant a tropical aura.
