A suggestive landscape of the medieval town of Assisi, in Umbria, central Italy. On the left the Basilica of San Francesco and the Sacro Convento (Sacred Abbey) of the Franciscan friars. An ancient Umbrian city built starting from the 9th century BC, Assisi became in 89 BC an important center of social and economic domination of Ancient Rome. After the fall of Rome and countless looting due to the barbarian invasions, in the Middle Ages Assisi was conquered by the Byzantines and the Lombards, finally ending up under the dominion of the emperor Frederick I the Barbarossa. Assisi is world famous for being the city of San Francesco and Santa Chiara (San Francesco and Santa Chiara), a sacred and spiritual place, a symbol of peace between all peoples and different confessions. The Umbria region, considered the green lung of Italy for its wooded mountains, is characterized by a perfect integration between nature and the presence of man, in a context of environmental sustainability and healthy life. In addition to its immense artistic and historical heritage, Umbria is famous for its food and wine production and for the quality of the olive oil produced in these lands. Since 2000 the Basilica and other Franciscan sites of Assisi have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Image in 16:9 and high definition format.

A beautiful view over the rooftops of Rome seen from the Pincio Gardens viewpoint, in the historic center of the Eternal City. In the center the imposing facade of the Altare della Patria National Monument. The terrace viewpoint of the Pincio Gardens, one of the most visited and loved places in Rome, is the culmination of the west side of Villa Borghese, the largest public park of the Italian capital. From this belvedere you can enjoy a breathtaking 180 degree view of the historic center of Rome, in the setting of some of the most beautiful gardens in the city. The Altare della Patria or Vittoriano is the Italian National Monument built in 1885 in neoclassical style between the Campidoglio (Roman Capitol) and Piazza Venezia in honor of the first king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II, to celebrate the definitive unification of Italy which took place in 1870. Subsequently, after the end of the First World War, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier was placed inside it as a military shrine dedicated to all the Italian soldiers who died in the war. Every year the Altare della Patria is the setting for all Italian civic celebrations, in particular the National Day of the Republic on 2 June and the Liberation Day on 25 April. In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Image in high definition format.
