The proboscis on the nose of the aircraft is for refuelling midflight, so it could fly extreme distances so long as tanker aircraft were available to refuel from.\n\nIt is a monolithic piece of engineering, and only standing on the floor under its wingspan do you get a real impression of how big these cargo planes now are, they're a feat of design and engineering, even when obsolete and left abandoned outdoors.$
