Crazy Plant Lady\n\nI have my mom to thank for my love of plants. On the island of Trinidad where I grew up, I remember opening up my bedroom window as a child and looking out unto a sea of greenery that was her garden on the side of our home. Now I have my own sea of green! A few years ago, I was gifted two dry looking bougainvillea plants from a work colleague to rehab. I nursed them back to health and began wondering what else I could grow. I’m always experimenting with growing new things. I have a mix of herbs, vegetables, flowering plants and shrubs. I mainly stuck to outdoor plants, but during the pandemic I decided to try houseplants and brought the green inside. I’m now slightly obsessed with the myriad of varieties and am now a proud plant mom to 4 fiddle leaf figs- they even have names!\n\nWhat I love about plants, is that they are just like people. Every plant needs the right environment to grow and bear fruits or flowers. You can have different plants in the same environment, and some will be happy, while others may die. I’m always so fascinated by how minute changes in light, water, temperature or location can be the difference between having a bountiful harvest of veggies, or pots of dead plants. Just like plants, we need to be in the right environment for us to thrive in this world.
