Tempera, also known as egg tempera, is a permanent, fast-drying painting medium that consists of colored pigments mixed with a water-soluble binder, usually glutinous material such as egg yolk. Tempera also refers to the paintings done in this medium.

Rome, Italy - May 12, 2018: The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is located in the Castro Pretorio district, near Termini Station and was built between 1879 and 1887 at the behest of Pope Pius IX who, in 1870, laid the foundation stone of the new building. However, due to the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy, the work was interrupted; it was only thanks to San Giovanni Bosco that construction could be resumed in 1880 and completed in 1887 by the architect Francesco Vespignani. Rome, Italy, November 30 -- The Contarelli Chappel with the triptych of paintings on the life of Saint Matthew by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio, inside the church of San Luigi dei Francesi (St. Louis of the French), in the historic and baroque heart of Rome. Built between 1518 and 1589 by the architects Giacomo Della Porta and Domenico Fontana, the church was consecrated on 8 October 1589. This Catholic temple is the national church in Rome of France, dedicated to the figure of King St. Louis IX. Caravaggio painted this triptych between 1599 and 1600, illustrating The Vocation of Saint Matthew (left), The Inspiration of Saint Matthew (center) and The Martyrdom of Saint Matthew (right). In 1980 the historic center of Rome was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Super wide angle and high definition image.
Built in the 13th century, it has a Romanesque style exterior and a late Baroque interior, and also houses many works of art.
