Rome, Italy - May 12, 2018: The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is located in the Castro Pretorio district, near Termini Station and was built between 1879 and 1887 at the behest of Pope Pius IX who, in 1870, laid the foundation stone of the new building. However, due to the annexation of Rome to the Kingdom of Italy, the work was interrupted; it was only thanks to San Giovanni Bosco that construction could be resumed in 1880 and completed in 1887 by the architect Francesco Vespignani. A view of the stunning frescoes inside de apse of the Duomo of Spoleto, a medieval town in the Umbria region, central Italy. The frescoes, depicting the Stories of the Virgin, were painted by Filippo Lippi between 1467 and 1469. Siena, Tuscany, Italy, July 07 -- The stunning frescoed interior, with the apse and the main altar, of the church of the Santissima Annunziata, in the heart of the medieval city of Siena, in Tuscany, central Italy. Located in the square of the Cathedral of Siena, this church was built in 1257, while its interior was remade in Baroque style in 1730. In the background, behind the main altar, the apse is completely frescoed with a work by the Neapolitan artist Sebastiano Conca (1680-1764) depicting the Pool of Betzaeta, mentioned in the Gospel of John, with a stunning false perspective. Siena is one of the most beautiful Italian cities of art, in the heart of the Tuscan hills, visited for its immense artistic and historical heritage and for its famous popular traditions.
