Old Dongola is a deserted medival Nubian town on the banks of the Nile River and the ancient capital of the Mankurian state. The Nubian Desert is in the eastern region of the Sahara Desert, between the Nile and the Red Sea. The native inhabitants of the area are the Nubians, descendants of the ancient Nubian civilizations also known and the Black Pharaohs.
