HMAS Warramunga, a frigate of the Royal Australian Navy, is manoeuvred into position alongside USS Emory S. Land, a submarine tender of the US Navy docked at Garden Island naval base in Sydney Harbour. Crew in the launch of the US Navy ship keep an eye on events. HMS Caroline is a C-class cruiser of the Royal Navy and was launched 29 September 1914. It was involved in combat service in the First World War and was used as an administrative centre in the Second World War. It was  decommissioned in 2011 and rests in Alexandra Dock, Belfast. HMS Caroline is the longest-serving warship after HMS Victory.

The bow of HMAS Brisbane, a destroyer of the Royal Australian Navy, docked at Garden Island, Sydney Harbour. The ship next to her is her sister ship, HMAS Hobart.  This image was achieved with a 1/2 second exposure after sunset on Christmas Eve.
Vintage photograph of the Royal Navy warship HMS Scylla taken at Sheerness Dockyard, Kent in 1873.   Scylla was a 16 guns, 400-horse power wooden screw corvette launched in 1856 and paid off in 1873. She served in the Mediterranean and the Pacific Station.
