Low to medium, rather variable, rhizomatous, hairless perennial with fans of fleshy, sword-shaped leaves, basal often orange-tinged; stem leaves small and bract-like, the upper larger than the lower. Flowers greenish-yellow or orange-yellow, 10-16mmstarry, in a rather lax spike like raceme; filaments of stamens densely hairy.
