The Gorgonian Sea Fan Annella mollis inhabits lower reef slopes and bottom and reefs of the tropical Indo-West Pacific exposed to strong tidal currents on rock or sand substrates in a depth range from 12-18m. \nJust on this small part of the colony there might be about 4000 polyps!\nTriton Bay, Indonesia, \n3°58'38.682 S 134°9'59.802 E, at 17m depth
This is a close-up photo of a Honeycomb coral (Favites sp.). It shows the details and the texture of the coral. The colony was discovered and photographed on the reef within the lagoon of Aur Atoll, located in the Marshall Islands.

This Acropora table coral was seriously damaged, but the colony is regrowing over the damaged table. The white edges are the growing zones. \nObviously this colony has a high recovery potential and over all the resilience of the reef is exceptional: \nWhen the Banda volcano last blew its top in 1988, a large lava flow swept down the northern slope into the ocean, covering a large part of reef in volcanic rock. What many thought would be the total destruction of the reef has instead become one of the most incredible coral reefs in Indonesia. Measured from ground zero after the eruption in 1988, this particular reef is known to be the fastest growing coral in the world. \nLava Flow, Banda Neira Island, Indonesia, \n4°30'20.418 S 129°52'57.456 E at 9m depth

Early afternoon, after a storm the visibility is reduced to some 5 or 6m. That means: a lot of nutrition in the water, the Gorgonians like that and so the polyps are extended, the lunch is ready! Palau, Micronesia, 7°10'33.499\
