Ranunculus most often comes in multiple layers of delicate, paper-thin petals, but some species also come in a single layer with their petals being very lustrous, especially in yellow species. Flowers emerge in March from fall-planted bulbs and are in bloom normally from March to May. They come in various colors, including red, pink, orange, gold, yellow, white and purple. Ranuculus is poisonous when eaten by cattle.
