The name comes from the ancient Greek word nekropolis, which means “city of the dead”. \n\nThe Giza Complex was once near the ancient Egyptian capital of Memphis, and the Giza plateau is where a number of pharaohs, queens, and nobles of the Fourth Dynasty of ancient Egypt were buried. All three of Giza's pyramids and their elaborate burial complexes were built from roughly 2550 to 2490 B.C. The pyramids were built by Pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure.

It is made of limestone blocks weighing more than 2 tons each. The slope of the pyramid rises at a 53° 13' angle, steeper than its neighbor, the pyramid of Khufu, which has an angle of 51°50'24\

Djoser (or Djeser and Zoser) Step Pyramid, is an archaeological site in the Saqqara necropolis, Egypt, northwest of the ruins of Memphis. Built by Imhotep in the 27th century BC during the Third Dynasty for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser, the 6-tier, 4-sided structure is the earliest colossal stone building in Egypt. It is the central feature of a vast mortuary complex in an enormous courtyard surrounded by ceremonial structures and decoration.
