Situated in the village of Warburton, part of Greater Manchester, Warburton Old Church is indeed very old. Parts of it date back to the middle of the 13th century.It is thought to be Saxon in origin. It boasts a Church bell from the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1st.The building is a mix of styles and construction over the centuries.The whole area is very peaceful and secluded.The church is looked after by the Churches conservation trust.

Corsham, Cotswolds, Wiltshire, England, UK - 07.04.2024. St Bartholomew's Church in Corsham. This place has been a centre of Christian worship for over one thousand years. There was certainly a Saxon church on this site long before the Normans invaded England in 1066 A.D.

The impressive St Mary's Church in Snettisham, Norfolk, Eastern England. Unusual for rural Norfolk, this church has a spire that would not look out of place on a cathedral. The church dates from the 14th century and is in the Decorated Gothic Period style externally, though it has been Victorianised internally and the spire was rebuilt in the 19th century. Snettisham is famous for its ‘hoard’ - Iron Age and Romano-British treasure discovered during the mid-late 20th century.

Durham Cathedral is a Norman building constructed between 1093 and 1133 in the Romanesque style. It was founded as a monastic cathedral built to house the shrine of St Cuthbert, replacing an earlier church constructed in his honour. Durham’s architectural value lies in the fact that it is the oldest surviving building with a stone vaulted ceiling of such a large scale. This may not seem remarkable today, but developing the know-how to roof large buildings with stone rather than wood shaped the course of European architecture from then on.
