Rome, Italy, October 22 -- The Contarelli chapel with the painting by Caravaggio of the Vocation of Saint Matthew in the church of San Luigi dei Francesi, near Piazza Navona. The painting was made by the artist between 1599 and 1600. Built between 1518 and 1589 on a project by the architect Giacomo Della Porta, the church of San Luigi was consecrated on 8 October 1589. San Luigi dei Francesi is considered the church of the French in Rome, particularly dedicated to the figure of King St. Louis IX. Image in High Definition format.
