This is an original unsigned 17th century painting.  The artist is unknown but it is in the style of Sir Peter Lely (Dutch/British, 1618-1680).  A portrait of Anna Maria Talbot (1642-1702), Countess of Shrewsbury from 1659-1668 by virtue of her marriage to Francis Talbot the 11th Earl of Shrewsbury, England. Francis Talbot died from wounds received in a duel with Anna's lover, the second Duke of Buckingham.  In a beat-up gilt wood frame.

There are many identifiable names visible on this monument which was erected by the Association of Minor Asia and the Association of Minor Asia 'Ionia' Rethymnon. The genocide took place after The Young Turk Revolution involving the years 1914-1923 which impacted the Christian minority Pontic Greeks in Anatolia. The Young Turks wanted to 'Turkify' the Ottoman Empire and so a genocidal campaign took place against non-Turkish minorities. Between 1914-1923, about 353,000 Pontic Greeks were killed and 1.5 million were expelled.

Unveiled in 1900, funded by philanthropist Henry Rosenberg (1824-1893) upon his death willed to the city of Galveston, fify thousand dollars for this monument to be built to honor the heroes of the victory of the Texas Revolution in 1836.  Lady Victory stands atop the monument holding a wreath stretched toward the north into the state of Texas.  This bronze sculpture was the second tallest at the time next to the William Penn sculpture atop Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
