Mature males are easily identified by their all-black legs and slightly clubbed, blood-red abdomen.\nOccurrence: \nGenerally common throughout, and among the commonest dragonflies in large parts of Europe, east to Siberia. Expending northwards in the United Kingdom.\nHabitat:\nMost waters with lush marshy vegetation, but generally avoids running or acid waters.
