Medium to tall stout hairless perennial forming large clumps; stem thick. Leaves fleshy, undulate and pinnately lobed, waxy. Flowers white, 10-15mm, in broad billowy panicles. fruit 8-14mm, 2-parted, the upper segment globose.
Crambe maritima is a white-fowering wild plant found on beaches from the North Atlantic to the Black Sea. It has common names sea kale, seakale and crambe, and belongs in the cabbage family, amongst the crucifers. It is a species of halophytic wildflower, and this particular example is flourishing on the beach near Brighton in the south of England.
(Polygonum bistortoides) Bistort is a common wildflower in the subalpine meadows of the Cascade Range.  The plant has long narrow leaves at the base with a pale white midrib line.  The oblong white flower at the top of the stem.  The plant smells like dirty socks and is pollinated by flies.

This pink wildflower is thrift, marsh daisy or sea pink, (Armeria maritima). It is one of the joys of walking the cliffs and headlands in the south of England. It is classified as one of the sea lavenders. Sea thrift has high visibility on these cliffs near Brighton, where it thrives on both rocky and sandy surfaces.
