If not, the strain is penicillin-sensitive like the current bacterium.\n\nThe Nordic countries have similar antibiotic resistance monitoring and stewardship programs. MRSA is rare, so anti-MRSA antibiotics aren't recommended for empirical treatment. Penicillin-sensitive S. aureus is still present in these countries.\n\nAureus can cause infections, most commonly in cuts, wounds, and skin lesions, as well as impetigo and abscesses, as well as deeper infections like bone, joint, lung infections, sepsis, and endocarditis.
