Ancona: Cathedral devoted to San Ciriaco
The church, with its cloister, was built together with the convent of the Hermits of San'Agostino in 1270 and rebuilt a century later together with the cathedral. The bell tower, as mentioned, is mentioned by Leopardi in his poem of the solitary sparrow. The tower represents the highest point of the village of Recanati, where the poet imagines a sparrow, which scrutinizes the slow and monotonous life of the citadel. The poet would like to be exactly like the sparrow, as his species allows him to always live in solitude, without experiencing feelings of happiness or unhappiness, much suffered by Leopardi.
