May 17, 2021 - Grand River Township, Missouri, USA: This rock, called Preacher's Rock, and cultivated pecan orchard are part of Adam-ondi-Ahman, owned and maintained by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  This is a sacred spot for church members. Joseph Smith prophesied this would be a gathering place in the last days. This shot was taken on a wet spring day with cloudy skies in the background but lush greenery covering and surrounding the site.

Wadi Rum is a desert valley cut into the sandstone and granite cliffs in southern Jordan. Known also as the Valley of the Moon it has been inhabited since prehistoric times (witnessed by the petroglyph inscriptions) and by semi nomadic tribes since the Nabataeans but is best known for its association with T E Lawrence - Lawrence of Arabia - who based himself here to encourage the Arab Revolt and to attack Turkish Forces of the Ottoman Empire during WW1. He was later immortalized by the film of the same name, made in 1962 by David Lean. Today the only inhabitants are Bedouin tribes and transient tourists.

The activity at this terrace, named after the Roman goddess Minerva, known as the patron of artists and sculptors, changes significantly over time. The travertine cascades beside the boardwalks were primarily formed in the 1990s. In certain years, they lie dormant and dry. When dry, the intricate layers and varying depths of the terraces are clearly visible, revealing the complex history of their formation.
