Statue of Theodore Dwight Woolsey, 10th president of Yale University (1846-1871). It is a tradition for students to rub the toe of the statue for good luck. Sculptor John Ferguson Weir created this bronze statue in 1896. It was installed in front of the entrance of Dwight Hall. Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA - February 27, 2024: A bronze statue of Charles Sumner, by sculptor Anne Whitney, is installed in General MacArthur Square in Cambridge, just outside of Harvard Yard and its Johnston Gate. The sculpture of Sumner, a popular local statesman, was commissioned by the Boston Art Committee shortly after his death in 1874. Charles Sumner was an academic lawyer, senator, politician and the head of the anti-slavery forces in Massachusetts. He was also the Radical Republicans leader during the Civil War and Reconstruction.
