Listed as a World Heritage Site, the Dazu Rock Carvings are made up of 75 protected sites containing some 50,000 statues, with over 100,000 Chinese characters forming inscriptions and epigraphs

The Changle Temple ruins are located at the foot of Gushan Mountain, overlooking the Beixiangtang Grottoes. The ruins currently cover an area of 11,530 square meters. Changle Temple was built in the Northern Qi Dynasty and was originally named Grotto Temple. During the Tiantong period of the Northern Qi Dynasty (565-569), it was renamed Zhizhi Temple. In the Tang Dynasty, it was renamed Gushan Temple. In the Song Dynasty, it was renamed Changle Temple. It is still in use today. During the Northern Qi Dynasty, it was known as the three major Buddhist centers in the north together with Xiuding Temple and Lingquan Temple in Henan. In the Tang Dynasty, it was known as \
Buddha statue with offerings in a small temple on the hill at the site of Yungang Grottoes, ancient Chinese Buddhist temple grottoes built during the Northern Wei dynasty near the city of Datong, in the province of Shanxi. They are excellent examples of rock-cut architecture and one of the three most famous ancient Buddhist sculptural sites of China. The others are Longmen and Mogao.
