The Vatican Gardens (in Italian, Giardini Vaticani) of the Vatican City are urban gardens and parks that cover more than half of the Vatican territory in the south and northeast. There are some buildings like Vatican Radio within the gardens.\n\nThe gardens extend approximately 23 hectares which is the largest part of the Vatican Hill. The highest point is 60 meters above sea level. Stone walls surround the area to the north, south, and west.\n\nThe gardens and parks were established during the Renaissance and Baroque times and are decorated with fountains and sculptures. There are several underground springs that are not currently in operation. There is a wide variety of flora, and the area is considered a biotope.

Rome, Italy - September 20, 2014: The garden and fountain in front of  Villa Doria Pamphili. It is a seventeenth-century villa with what is today the largest landscaped public park in Rome, Italy. It began as a villa for the Pamphili family and when the line died out in the eighteenth century, it passed to Prince Giovanni Andrea IV Doria from which time it has been known as the Villa Doria Pamphili.
