An old British World War Two Home Guard retirement card for a man who served in the 44th County of London Battalion Home Guard. The 44th comprised London Passenger Transport workers who had not been called up to serve in the regular military and who took on Home Guard duties as part of their war effort, one of their main tasks being to supply security to transport stations, power stations, depots and works, as well as occasionally for guard duty elsewhere. The Home Guard was in operation from 1940 to 1946. (Identifying details have been removed.)
