The stadium is home to Galatasaray Football Team of Turkey. The stadium was built between 2007 and 2011 and cost approximately 160million USD. It was opened officially with a Galatasaray - Ajax match at 15th of May, 2011. It has a seat capacity of 52.650 and capacity for 5500 VIP and 157 executive boxes. The naming rights were sold to the telecom giant Turk Telekom for 10 years. Built 12 km from the historical peninsula, at north next to the Trans-European Motorway, the stadium quickly had an impact on the transport capacity between Europe and Asia. In the background new housing and office development takes place, typical gentrification area transforming a once remote valley quickly.
