Mantis is a type of mantis originating from the island of Borneo. It has a unique body shape and is colored like dried leaves to disguise itself for prey.

Both sexes are normally swiftly identified by their ‘drooping moustache’, while the female has a perpendicularly protruding vulvar scale.\nOccurrence: One of the commonest dragonflies in north and east Europe, and deep in northern Asia, becoming scarcer towards the south. Appears to be less dispersive than relatives.\nHabitat: All sorts of standing water, generally more lushly vegetated than the breeding sites of S. striolatum.\nFlight season: may be seen from June to November, but most records are from July to September.\n\nThis is a common Species in the Netherlands.
