Built by the Senate of Rome in 13 BC. in honor of the Emperor Augustus, the Ara Pacis became the symbol of the Pax Romana (Roman Peace), imposed by the emperor throughout the empire after years of wars and conquests. Originally built near the ancient Via Flaminia, the altar of the Ara Pacis was definitively rebuilt and incorporated into the current structure in 1938. The Pasteur Institute (Institut Pasteur) is a French non-profit private foundation dedicated to the study of biology, micro-organisms, diseases, and vaccines.
