The statue is in a prominent position outside St. George's Hall, Liverpool, Merseyside, North West England, UK. Prince Albert (1819 – 1861) was the husband of Queen Victoria (1819 - 1901). He was born in the Saxon duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, and at the age of 20 he married his first cousin, Queen Victoria. Unfortunately, in 1861 Albert died at the early age of 42, plunging Queen Victoria into deep mourning, which lasted for the rest of her life.
