Hvitserkur is a basalt sea stack shaped like a three legged creature.  It's known as Rhino Rock or the troll rock.  It is located off the Vatnsnes Peninsula in northwest Iceland. It was formed when magma flowed into a fracture in the bedrock and filled it.  The old land surface that surrounded it eroded away.  When the magma dyke cooled, the rock fractured into horizontal columns that lie at right angles to the cooling surface.  It is about 35 feet high, but only about 5 feet thick.
