A fighter jet refueling probe is a component for aerial refueling operations, allowing combat aircraft to extend their operational range and endurance. Typically mounted on the nose or upper fuselage, the probe extends forward to connect with the drogue or basket of a tanker aircraft's refueling hose. When engaged, fuel is transferred from the tanker to the fighter jet. Probes vary in design but generally consist of a telescopic or fixed structure ending in a nozzle that interfaces with the tanker's refueling system. This system enables fighters like the Eurofighter (pictured), F/A-18 Hornet and F-16 Fighting Falcon to undertake longer missions or loiter in combat areas without needing to return to base. The successful operation of the probe demands precision piloting and coordination between both aircraft involved in the refueling process. Aerial refueling, also referred to as air refueling, in-flight refueling (IFR), mid-air refueling, air-to-air refueling (AAR), and tanking, is the process of transferring aviation fuel from one aircraft (the tanker) to another (the receiver) while both aircraft are in flight.

The flight line at Davis Monthan Air Force base has the old but great A-10's The A-10 AKA, Warthog, who mission has been extended many times, because the plane was so well built for its mission of close air to ground support. Davis Monthan Air Force Base is a key ACC installation. The 355th Wing (355 WG) provides A-10 Thunderbolt II close air support and OA-10 forward air controllers to ground forces worldwide.

Lisbon, Portugal: retired Fiat G.91 R/3 jet fighter aircraft - without unit or serial markings on public display on a plinth in front of the Military College building - The aircraft was developed by Fiat Aviazione in Italy and was intended to replace the F-86 Sabre within NATO. The “G” stands for Fiat Avio chief designer, Giuseppe Gabrielli. After Fiat Aviazione merged with other Italian aircraft manufacturers to form Aeritalia SpA, the designation changed to Aeritalia G.91 - The aircraft was widely used by the Portuguese Air Force in Africa (Mozambique, Angola and Guinea-Bissau provinces) in a ground attack role. It fought against African terrorist organizations, some financed and supported by the USSR or PR of China (Frelimo, MPLA, UNITA, PAIGC), but also against the FNLA, sponsored by a fellow NATO member, the US under JFK. Some aircraft were lost after the USSR supplied 9K32 Strela-2 light-weight, shoulder-fired, surface-to-air missile (MANPADS) to the terrorists. Ironically the Soviet Air Force would later face similar problems in Afghanistan with the introduction of the FIM-92 Stinger missile in Taliban service.

Tuscaloosa AL USA - October 13, 2018 : Taken this picture at a public event of the A-10 Warthog flying in front of spectators and general public. Tried to take full profile of the aircraft from behind when it is taking a full circle to come back again. A-10 aerodynamic allows it to take a sharp turn at slow air speed against the overcast sky. A-10 can be identified from a distant due to its placement of the engine outside the main fuselage of the aircraft.
