Market traders skillfully navigate their boats, laden with a variety of local produce and goods, while boat excursion operators guide tourists and local buyers through the waterways. The scene is a lively showcase of traditional Thai commerce and culture, with visitors engaging in the unique experience of shopping on water.

Bangkok, Thailand - November 22, 2008: A woman selling an impressive display of hats fans herself with one of the hats as she waits for customers. The Damnoen Saduak floating market is the most famous amongst all and is located around a 100kms southwest of Bangkok. The market - beginning at 7.30am and closing by 12.30pm, is one of the most popular places to see in Bangkok. People can buy everything from fresh fruits, vegetables and cooked food to souvenirs. The market is located on a canal dug by King Rama IV to encourage the economic growth of his country. There is a dense population of people living on both sides of the canal, mainly agriculturists by occupation, growing fruits and vegetables of many types which they sell fresh everyday on the floating market. Boats (man powered and motor) are used to navigate through the market and houses of the people living along the canal.
