The conspicuous yellow spot on S7 identifies males and most females through binoculars.\nOccurrence:\nGenerally uncommon; populations are usually local and small. The most thermophilus Leucorrhinia, with a relative southern range.\nHabitat:\nGenerally inhabits less acidic and nutrient poor places than L. dubia and L. rubicunda, preferring marshy borders to bogs, forest lakes, fenlands, marshy ditches.\nVegetation is typically lush and varied, with both emergent and submerged species. The water is frequently mesotrophic and often colored brown due to peat.\nFlight Season:\nFrom early May to early August, with most records in late May and June.\n\nThis Picture is made in the Wieden (Overijssel, the Netherlands) in mid June of 2023.

Male often raises clubbed tail.\nOccurrence:\nOccurrence is scattered and populations are normally rather small. May be abundant locally.\nHabitat:\nPools and lakes with moderate nutrient levels and rich aquatic vegetation.\nFlight Season: \nMid May to early August; most abundant in June.\n\nThis Picture is made in the Weerribbenn (Overijssel, the Netherlands) in mid June of 2025.
