The Valley of Fire is a 46,000-acre State Park, famous for its unique rock formations, red sandstone cliffs, and petroglyphs. Rainbow Vista is a viewpoint that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, with vibrant colors ranging from reds and oranges to yellows and pinks. The unique sandstone formations have been eroded by wind and water over millions of years, creating a variety of interesting shapes and textures. On May 20, 2012 there was an annular solar eclipse that was visible from the Valley of Fire. The sun formed a ring around the moon; a spectacular phenomenon to view. As the sun passed behind the moon, the land around the area acquired an other-worldly glow, providing the opportunity to capture some brightly colored and radiant scenes. Valley of Fire State Park is located in Clark County, Nevada USA, and spans over 40,000 acres of bright red sandstone dramatically contrasting with deposits of gray and tan limestone.

They are clusters of hoodoos, which are tall, thin rock spires that resemble mushrooms or toadstools. These formations are created by millions of years of erosion from wind and water on soft sandstone. The wind and water wear away at the softer rock underneath, leaving the harder rock on top like a cap. The Toadstools are found in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah.
