Entomophthora muscae is a species of pathogenic fungus in the order Entomophthorales which causes a fatal disease in flies. It can cause epizootic outbreaks of disease in houseflies and has been investigated as a potential biological control agent.

Yellow dung fly (scientific name: Scathophaga stercoraria) is a dipteran insect of the family Scathophaga stercoraria that is widely distributed in the northern hemisphere. As the name suggests, they are often found in the feces of mammals, especially pigs and horses.

Focus here is on a domestic fly sheltering in a golden daffodil trumpet. Daffodil trumpets provide one of the largest - and strongest - yellows amongst the spring garden flowers of the UK. Appropriately, since the daffodil is the national flower of Wales, they start to burst their buds and sport their yellow petals around March 1st, St. David's Day.
