Nepenthes rajah (pictured in a tropical hot and humid rain forest) is a carnivorous pitcher plant species of the Nepenthaceae family. The plant is endemic to the mountains of Sabah in the Malaysian Borneo. Insects, and particularly ants, comprise its prey. One of the plants of wet moorland, moist streambanks and boggy places, the Sundew is an insectivorous plant which derives its nourishment by trapping flies and then digesting them. Oblong-leaved Sundew is less common than Round-leaved Sundew but is similar in having hairs covering its leaves, each hair ending in a sticky blob which glues the insect to the leaf irrevocably.

Cobra plant, also called Darlingtonia Californica and California pitcher, is the only species of the genus Darlingtonia of the New World pitcher plant (Sarraceniaceae). The cobra plant is native to swamps in mountain areas of northern California and southern Oregon and uses its carnivorous pitfall traps to supplement its nutritional requirements in poor soil conditions. The plant’s hooded pitcher₋like leaves resemble striking cobras and bear purple-red appendages that look similar to a snake’s forked tongue or a set of fangs.
