Typical historic Kreo (Creole) house in Sierra Leone's capital of Freetown, founded by freed slaves of the transatlantic slave trade, many coming from the USA and the Caribbean. The houses are stylistically similar to houses of the same period in the American South and the Caribbean. Sadly, in spite of their historic value, they are not well looking after. They were built roughly between 1800 and 1900. Photos taken in August 2018

Cayenne, French Guiana: French Guiana Prefecture Building on Léopold-Héder Square, seat of the Prefect of French Guiana. Large building completed in 1752, with a U-shaped plan originally built as a monastery by the Jesuits. In 1762, when the Jesuits were banned from the colony it became the headquarters of the French Colonial Government. After the French Revolution, the pro-consul Victor Hugues settled in this building in 1801, he added the clock on a triangular pediment. After his departure, the Portuguese occupied Cayenne and this building (1809 to 1817). Balconies with the French tricolor shield with the French Republic initials (RF).

Luena (Luso), Moxico province, Angola: Moxico Provincial Government headquarters, Portuguese colonial building in 'Estado Novo' architecture style - Moxico is the largest province in Angola, almost as big as Romania. Moxico located in the eastern part of the country and bordered by Zambia to the east.
