Dipo Rites Festival is a rite of passage ceremony celebrated by the people of Odumase Krobo in Ghana. Despite the influences of modernity and education, the rite is still being practised. It is a festival that ushers virgin girls into puberty in April every year. \nDuring this period, the maidens are taken through various rituals to ascertain their chastity before they are qualified for the next stage, which is the Dipo rites.\nDipo rites are characterised by the girls shaving their heads and being clad in cloth around their waists with a special ritual mother who performs the rites and leads them in a parade through the entire community to transition them from childhood to adulthood on the first day.\n\nBefore the sun rises the next day, the girls are given a ritual bath by the chief priest and he pours libation to ask for blessings. Then he washes their feet with the blood of a goat that was presented by the mothers of the maidens. They believe that washing the girl's feet with the goat's blood purges the girls from any spirit of barrenness. \nAfter this, the girls are made to sit on a sacred stone which, they believe is used to check their virginity. If found pregnant or not to be a virgin, the community detests that girl and is not attractive to any man from the Krobo tribe. \nThe girls are then taken through a week of tutorials on housekeeping, cooking, childbirth and nurturing and how to please their future husbands. They are also taught the traditional Klama dance which they perform on the final day of the Dipo rites. \n\nThe rites come to an end at a grand ceremony with all the members of the community gathered to celebrate the maidens as they transition into womanhood amidst drumming, singing and cheers.

Cotonou, Littoral Department, Benin: micro gas filling station - roadside petrol supplier, employing large bottles (carboy) - informal fuel sellers often sell cheap fuels from Nigeria. Fuel smuggling from Nigeria to Benin is a widespread issue driven by the significant price disparity between the two countries. Nigeria, as one of Africa's largest oil producers, heavily subsidizes fuel, making it much cheaper than in neighboring Benin. Despite efforts by both Nigerian and Beninese governments to curb smuggling through border enforcement, the practice continues due to economic pressures and weak border controls, contributing to losses in tax revenue for both countries and fueling a black-market economy.
